Mostly good but challenging to get anyone to explain the procedure and payment for the Manchester visa office not clear. Why isn't it the same as London? A cynic might says that southerners get a lot more support.

Just returned from Magnificent China tour. On the whole the tour was very good. It was a bit hectic at times with us being out for the whole day returning late evening but saw some amazing sights.
Never written a review before but thought our experience would be useful for those suffering from coeliac disease and requiring a gluten free diet.
It was a bit of a struggle at times. The Chinese do not have much appreciation of a gluten free diet shown by the 'gluten free' boxed breakfast given to my husband on our last morning. They had taken out the sandwich but left in the pastries! (and hadn't given him anything extra to make up for the items removed).
There is something available at each meal. However, because soy sauce can't be used at times the food can be very bland ie the meat and it seems difficult to get them to substitute another flavouring.
He couldn't have the special dumplings at all in Xian. It would have been nice if some could have made with a different type of flour rather than him having to miss out completely.
At times my husband was told that he was to have some 'special dishes' which often constituted a whole plate of broccoli or beans. This was quite disappointing as even mixed vegetables would have been preferable.
The Yangtze cruise was better. The cruise director listened to us and my husband was given a choice of food to pick. The chef was able to make curries for my husband and produced some very nice desserts for him as well. The cruise director was very honest and told us there was no need to upgrade to the a la carte food option and we were very grateful for her help.
On the positive side the tour guide kept my husband informed as to what he could and couldn't eat and he wasn't ill at all on the trip. It just would have been better if a bit more effort could be made to provide interesting and varied food.
It is definitely worth going as long as you don't have too high expectations on the food front. We took plenty of snacks, crisps and nuts for him and he found this a godsend.

Would have liked to have been informed of the Yangtze river cruise upgrades when we booked and before we left UK. Other people on the tour from other countries had pre-booked upgrades.

The whole trip was amazing. We saw so much of China that we could have not covered/organised ourselves. Our tour Manager was brilliant and all the other individual guides were very helpful. Our time schedule was quite rushed though and although we were advised before our trip that we would on occasions have to proceed straight from the full day tours to the evening meal venues it got all too much in the end . If we could have gone back to our hotel, freshened up and then out again it would have been far more enjoyable. The fact that we had to eat out at 6 or 6 30pm was just too much as we prefer to revolve our night time around a nice leisurely meal and instead had to rush our food down often by 7pm ready to vacate the restaurants for the next 'round' of diners. Also the food . which was plentiful some of us just couldnt eat . We love Chinese food back in the UK and the food we had was of no comparison ...bland , slimy and most times disguised with batter and we weren't even sure of what we were eating. Thats the bad side...the places we visited were amazing, the incredible care, consideration and thoughtfulness of our tour manager Ian and the other guides was outstanding. Our cruise on the Yangtze was especially memorable and we were able to upgrade to the Shangrila Suite. Value for money ...yes....standard of hotels was variable but acceptable. Yes the itinerary was rushed ...but there was no way that you could visit so many places without changing hotels every 2 days or so. The optional shows / excursions we chose were good but not well promoted ....we did quite a few and especially like the rafting on the river Li and the Maglev train but we were the only ones in our group go ...but as ever our tour manager and guide Ian organised private and very safe transport to ensure did not miss out.

Excellent trip so well organised but the food for us was a big let down . Also we found that eating at 6 / 6 30 pm was far too early as some days we had only just eaten at 2 pm. Value for money ...yes ok .....but it was the the food let it down for me

I completed their own Customer Survey, but my complaints were ignored. I then e-mailed the same comments to them. This was acknowledged the day I sent it (16th), but I've heard nothing since. A week is surely enough time to reply

This was an expensive holiday, but the organisation was very poor. We had very little sleep at times, free time was badly arranged. I also believe we had to pay out unnecessary sums for a suitable cabin on the boat, & we were overcharged for our beers with meals

Really good value for money. Hoffman, our guide made the tour even better through his willingness to go out of his way to provide information, plan things effectively and ensure our welfare.
All hotels were reasonable given different Chinese expectations although Marco Polo hotel in Dubai was a little tired, out of the way and had a very noisy night club

Everything was brilliant from start to finish of the tour. The people in the London’s office were helpul with my issues on the visa form.
On the tour itself I could have had a better time. The group were great Compnay and the guide (Hoffman) was a real treasure. He was so calm and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble for him to go and he was so attentive to everyone’s needs and well-being during the trip. He had a clear tone when speaking to the group and he explained werthting more than once so we all remembered here we needed to be and when. The trip itself was fantastic. I’m very glad I chose 3 weeks, which is longer than normal for annual leave, because it showed everything I wanted to see and do in China. Thanks to all the local guides for their knowledge and friendly attitudes. Thanks to Hoffman especially for making it so easy.

The trip was fantastic. Longer than a normal holiday and made it feel like a real adventure and showed me all the sites and things I wanted to see whilst in china. The pace was just right and we had a good group. Our guide chose a good range of menu options for our meals and I enjoyed everything- the only negative thing is on the Yangtze cruise it got a bit too busy in the excursions there were a lot of tourist groups out at the same time.

Majestic China was an great tour, seeing lots of China at a good pace but not too frenetic. The organisation was excellent and the guides good and some outstanding (Michael, Lee, Effie and Troy). Hotels were comfortable and clean and in good positions. Food was always plentiful and usually very good. The guides worked hard to look after the gluten free needs of my wife.

I would heartily recommend Wendy Wu tours

The tour was well planned and organised. Booking was easy and all the documents arrived early, There was a lot of useful tips and information for the trip. The Chinese phases were helpful. The local tour guides were excellent especially Effie in Guilin, Lee in Beijing and Alex in Shanghai. They were all friendly and informative. Our tour guide Micheal was good espy ferromagnetic place to place without loosing anyone

This is a fabulous tour giving you good taste of China and seeing the major sites. It is very full on with early starts and some late finishes. The food is generally good but in some places we tended to get the same things for every meal. I think the Yangtze cruise could be a day shorter and it would have been useful to be offered the up grades when booking. I would have liked to experience the bullet train and had one less flight. All the in flight meals were terrible. The adds were good and could have been included in the price of the tour. China is truely amazing and came up to all my expectations. I feel we could have seen more in Chengdu as we had a day free before an evening flight. I will definitely be booking again with Wendy Wu and returning to China.

They looked after us extremely well. Always two guides and took us to good restaurants. I liked the way they looked after all the tips for the different guides and drivers. At airports they organised the baggage check in very well.
We always knew what was going to happen next well ahead of time.
My only slight grouch was that some people walked a bit fast and when we caught up with the guide they had already finished talking about the sight. Also I would have liked a bit more opportunity to buy from roadside vendors, we seemed to rush past them.

Care of national tour guide was superb, thought attentive and considerate throughout. Would recommend and would travel again with them. Everything went to plan on Magnificent China, would have liked more free time
